Craft Corner: Leg Warmers

I've been wanting to make my leg warmers for FOREVER and I finally finished them! Woo hoo! I found the pattern on Ravelry and could not get them out of my head! With the cold weather moving in, I knew that they would be absolutely perfect! I've had to yarn since July, so I'm happy I finally put it to good use! I followed the link to Lion Brand's Website where they had the pattern for free and I went from there!

They fit absolutely perfectly! I swear they're the same length, I was just too lazy to retake the picture when I saw that the one on the right was pulled up a little bit more. But I'm in love with them and I can't wait to wear them all fall and winter long!

My favorite part of these is the little heel cut out! They're so much more fun and perfect for lounging around in or wearing them underneath a pair of boots. Do any of you have fun, fall knitting projects you've been working on? I'm working on an orange hat now that I can't wait to finish either! This incoming cold weather is making me so excited for the knitting possibilities! So I hope you guys are enjoying this crisp weather and happy knitting :)

Pinspiration: Home Libraries

Pinterest has found a way to feed my obsessions yet again! I love love love books and it has always been a dream of mine to have a magnificent home library and I've been seeing some pretty fantastic libraries on pinterest. I pinned them all to my For the Home and can't wait to use the inspiration for them for my own personal library!

There are so many options that I honestly don't know how a girl can choose! Do you go calm or bright? Massive or cozy? I just don't know! Good thing I don't have to decide for a while...guess that means I'll have to continue to feed my library addiction through my Pinterest boards :)

Today's Stitch [September 17]

Today has been a really good day so far! Aside from the fact that my computer hates me today, this fall weather has put me into a really good mood! I've been so productive and thought I'd share with you guys what my day's been looking like so far!

1) Shakespeare is my life! Haha, well this weekend it was. I read the entire play Measure for Measure yesterday so that I had it finished for today's class. I hadn't heard of it before, but it was surprisingly really good! I can't wait to read more of Sir Shakespeare's masterpieces :)

2) I've been trying to squeeze in time anywhere I can for just reading on my own! I'm reading this awesome steampunk book right now about a vampire that Dracula was actually based on (well, according to this book) and it's so cool! So when my nose wasn't buried in my Shakespeare textbook, it was in this lovely book instead!

3) With fall weather comes so much inspiration to knit fantastic new projects! I'm obsessed with the color orange right now, so I'm making a hat that hopefully will be finished sometime in the near future! I love the cabled pattern I chose to do and I can't wait to share the finished project with you guys!

4) I need to find time to journal! So much has been going on in my life that I hope to carve out some time tonight to dedicate to writing down everything that's floating on in my head. I miss having the time to journal more frequently, but that's what I get for making myself so busy! Oh, well, let's hope tonight there can be a little time to set aside for some quality time with my little journal :)

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are enjoying this cool weather! It's the absolute perfect temperature for running, so I'm making sure I take advantage of it as best I can! And knitting new projects to keep me snuggly and warm is definitely number one on my to do list. I hope your autumns are off to as great of a start as mine and have a fabulous week :)

Kitchen Krazy: Hershey Bar Cake

Oh the joy of college baking! I initially wanted to make Symphony Brownies, which are brownies with a layer of Symphony Chocolate bars in the middle. My mom makes them all the time and they are the most delicious brownies ever. Sadly, when I went to the market right by my dorm, they had NO BROWNIE MIX and no symphony bars. Well great. The two main ingredients I need are not there. So, I decided to improvise and got a box of Devil's Food Cake mix and hershey bars instead! And, seeing as it's almost impossible for me to have eggs without having to buy an entire carton, I decided to get creative :)

I found that on Hungry Girl's Website you can make cake from a box with just the dry mix and diet coke! I thought that sounded easy enough, so I decided to try that method out! And you know what? It turned out so well!

I mixed up the dry mix with 1 1/2 cups of Diet Coke (the equivalence of a 12 oz can) and poured half of it in the pan.

Then I broke up the Dark Chocolate Hershey Bars (because they're my favorite! You can use normal Hershey bars if you want) and poured the rest of the batter on top until all of the bars were covered. I baked the cake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees (like the back of the box said) and out came a deliciously moist cake with a nice dark chocolate surprise on the inside!

I'm so happy with how my cake turned out! I brought it to my Quidditch Team Bonding party and it was a hit! Sadly, there weren't any leftovers to take home, but I guess that means I'll have to make it again soon! I really want to try out the Diet Coke with brownie mix to see how those turn out! So maybe I'll try that next! But for now, if you don't have any eggs or vegetable oil to use for cake, Diet Coke is definitely a great alternative! Not only is it super easy to find, but it saves some calories too! It gives you a delicious chocolate treat that you don't feel too guilty eating :)

Autumn Goals

I absolutely LOVE Fall, so I decided what better way to start off the season than to plan some goals? I'm so excited to start crossing these things off the list because they're definitely the best part of this season! I've been on a baking craze lately and I've been craving pumpkin like you couldn't believe, so those two goals are definitely ones I'm looking forward to the most! I can't wait to snuggle up in my warm clothes as the temperature finally starts to drop away from the sweaty summer. It's going to be fantastic!

Do you guys have any goals? I'd love to hear them! A new season brings on a whole new attitude from me, so I'm super excited to see where Fall will take me :)

Friday's Favorites

It's finally Friday!!! I've been looking forward to this weekend so much because I have so many fun things planned! I know, shocker for me haha. So this weekend should be extra fun and I can't wait to share everything with you guys! But before then, here are some awesome things I've found this week!

1) Haha, I definitely NEED this toilet in my house! It's so perfect!

2) I always find super cute Toms, but these batman Toms are definitely at the top of the list!

3) This cake is SO PRETTY. I would almost be too afraid to eat it. Almost. Because it looks delicious too!

4) How sweet are these mustache hangers? I seriously need to find myself some because they would be absolutely perfect in my closet!

5) These chocolate bars are basically my life motto :)

6) This is so true! I'm kind of obsessed with my book collection and show it off every chance I get!

7) I definitely want to try out making this heart ring. It doesn't look hard at all!

8) How adorable are those heart chocolate chips? I have to figure out if they actually sell them! They would make eating chocolate that much better :)

9) I love these floral shoes. Even though it's changing seasons, I would die if I had these in my closet! And I'd wear them every chance I could!

10) Mmmm I've been craving some grilled cheese lately, so I definitely started drooling when I saw this picture. Now if I could only find a place on campus that had grilled cheese that looked this good....

And that's it from me! Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend and enjoy the start of a fantastic new season!

Owl Cupcakes

That's right! I FINALLY made my owl cupcakes and I must say, they're so perfect! I went down to the kitchen in our dorm on Sunday morning set with my box of Devil's Food Cake and a little cup of apple sauce. Since I didn't have eggs, I had to do with what I had! And they turned out awesome! I got the idea for these guys from Pinterest and used the picture from One Charming Party as a guide and pretty much winged the rest!

Like I said, I didn't have any eggs, so I used applesauce and water to add to the mix and it worked perfectly! I just followed this recipe I found online and they still taste delicious. Those ingredients weren't hard to find in a dorm room at all!

I used Reduced Fat Oreos to try and make them a little healthier, but that means there wasn't as much cream in the middle so I had to add extra frosting so that the M&Ms could stick to the eyes. All I did was let the cupcakes cool, put frosting on all of them, put frosting on all of the Oreos, put M&Ms on all of the Oreos, put two Oreos next to each other on the cupcake, and then put on a little M&M nose! And viola! My Owls were born!

I brought these little cuties to my Knitting Club meeting and they were a hit! Everyone loved them and, like me, still can't get over how adorable they are! I'm definitely making my little Owl Cupcakes again! An easy recipe that creates a super cute cupcake? What more could a girl ask for?
