10 Things Making Me Happy

It's been over a week since I spent the weekend at home and it already feels like forever ago. I'm already dying to have my puppy in my arms as she squirms to get away. I know she secretly loves my hugs! My next weekend home will be here before I know it, though, because the weekdays just seem to fly by as they fill up with classes, homework, club meetings, and running. Before I know it, it'll be Christmas! How exciting is that? On that note, here's what else has been making me happy this week…

1. Baking for book club. I tried out these 2 Ingredient Pumpkin Brownies and they turned out delicious!

2. Looking for a new phone case. My parents officially ordered my new iPhone 6 and it should be coming in within the next couple of weeks. My sister and I, of course, scrambled to find the perfect phone case and it took us days to decide exactly what we wanted. I ended up going with this one and hope it was the right choice!

3. Finishing up Jane Eyre. I read the last 200 pages in one day (my busiest day of the week, at that) and it's definitely one of my new favorite books I've ever read.

4. Finding new movies to fall in love with. I watched An Affair to Remember and fell in love with the story. Now I understand why so many other movies and shows reference it!

5. Finally making some hot cocoa before going to bed. I picked up some hot chocolate packets and peppermint mocha creamer from the grocery store and made the most delicious cup of hot cocoa the other day. I definitely see much more hot chocolate in my future.

6. Running with the president of the University. On Friday, about thirty members of the running club showed up at our president's house at 6am to go on their annual run with him. We only went about 2 miles, but it was fun personally meeting the president and getting to run around campus with him.

7. Vacuuming the apartment. I don't know why, but I always find vacuuming so soothing and love how clean my apartment looks after a good run through.

8. Eating pumpkin ice cream. Kroger finally had the 1/2 fat Edy's pumpkin ice cream and I am literally in heaven. I almost bought two 1/2 gallons just so that I could make it through the week without running out…

9. Painting my nails for fall. I have this pretty light brownish/purple polish that has bronze flecks in it that I got from Ulta and I am so obsessed with it right now. And it lasts for days without getting chipped!

10. Wearing new clothes for the first time. I got my package from Forever21 while I was home last weekend and wore my new clothes both Monday and Tuesday. They were fabulous!

An Affair to Remember (1957)

I have been meaning to watch this movie for so long. After hearing it referenced in both Sleepless in Seattle and Gossip Girl, I knew it was time I finally sat down and watched a movie about an affair that I would most definitely remember.

Nickie Ferrante and Terry McKay both have lives that seem to be set. Both with significant others and two very separate lives, Nickie and Terry couldn't be more different. But the two can't help but fall in love as they continuously run into each other on the cruise they've individually taken. They agree to meet six months later at the top of the Empire State building, but will they?

Gosh, this movie was so good. The beginning was so fun and light hearted and I absolutely loved Nickie and Terry falling in love. The settings were gorgeous and their outfits divine. Their bantering was adorable and I loved how they were continuously running into each other on the cruise to the point where they just gave in and decided to be friends. That's what was so great about this romance too- they were actually friends before anything else happened. They flirted, teased, and really got to know each other before they suddenly realized how deeply they had fallen for each other. How romantic is that?

Of course, there comes a time when the light-hearted banter falls away to real life and real issues that test every relationship. I don't want to give anything away, but this movie definitely tugs on the heart strings and will have you yelling at your television. I was so emotionally invested in their relationship and could not take my eyes off the screen. I think I've found a new favorite movie and I definitely recommend An Affair to Remember to anyone who loves old movies and romances that last a lifetime.

What I Wore: You Go to Yale?

Sweatshirt- Forever21 | Jeans- Gap | Keds- Macy's | Bag- Amazon

Pshhhh, no I don't go to Yale. I'm definitely no Rory Gilmore and I like my own University just fine, thank you very much. I just saw this sweatshirt online at Forever 21 and could not get over how comfortable it looked. And you know what? It is really comfortable! Sometimes, I just feel like throwing a sweatshirt on when it's cold outside, so that's exactly what I did on Tuesday. Especially since it was around 50 degrees when I left my apartment for class and ended up being 70 degrees when I got out. I'm so fed up with this bipolar weather that changes 20 degrees in two hours. Just be Fall already! Please?

My Great Gatsby bag has definitely become my go-to tote bag while at school. It reflects my personality (book worm, right here) and is actually a thick material that can hold quite a bit of stuff. I love taking it to knitting or my movie viewing on Wednesday nights for my Film Studies class. Plus, a little Gatsby in your life can never hurt ;)

I have many great loves in my love- reading, movies, my puppy, Diet Coke…but the two that I absolutely love to put together are Fall and baking. I bookmark recipe after recipe of variations on pumpkin baked goods and itch to try out new combinations. What I Wore: Goodbye September

Dress- Forever21 | Belt- Delia's | Sweater- Delia's | Shoes- H&M | Watch- Macy's

How did September go by so fast? Seriously, it seems like just yesterday we were leaving August and just getting into the swing of being back at school. Now, it's officially Fall and October begins tomorrow. Before I know it, it'll be Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then Winter Break! As my last semester as a college student taking college classes, it seems to be going by way too fast.

Monday's are always a little hectic for me with three classes and my book club meeting. I'm out the door by 10:50am and don't come back home until after 8pm. It's nice having my only long day be on Monday, though, because then I get it out of the way and can relax by the time Tuesday rolls around. I only have two classes today and then knitting club, so it's not going to be that bad of a day. While I do have an exam in my film studies class, it shouldn't be too hard. Hopefully it goes well!

2. The pug face on this iPhone 5 Case Prince is just too adorable not to love.

3. Seeing as September is almost over, this Baby Got Bat Bag would be so perfect to wear during October.

4. Just look at all of the colors in this Preppy Colorblocked-Pockets Cardigan! So perfect to stay in a bright mood during the colder days that are undoubtedly coming up.

5. I love the scalloped edging of this Perk of Art Bag. So cute!

Project Wishlist: Cowls

I always have projects that I want to make, but I never had enough time in the day to make them all. When the fall weather moves in, I always want to make as many cowls as possible to snuggle up in as I head to class in the crisp air. My favorites list on Ravelry absolutely explodes and I pine after all of the beautiful cowl patterns there are out there…

The one that I definitely can't wait to start is the My Favorite Things Infinity Scarf. I love how that pattern leaves the ability for the knitter to make it unique to their own favorite things. I would definitely have a panel that says "knit" and "purl". The sheep are adorable too and they even have elephants! The possibilities are endless and it looks like so much fun to make.

As for the other scarves, the patterns look simple yet they turn out gorgeous! I love how big and fluffy the Valuminosa cowl looks and that purple color is gorgeous. I have some pink yarn, though, that I could see making a gorgeous cowl with that pattern. Oh, I'm already itching to get started!
