Craft Corner: Cookie Sheet Magnet Board

I've been obsessed with my Arts & Crafts Pinboard, so today I am super excited to share with you yet another Pinterest inspired craft! It's the cookie sheet magnet board! I freaking love how this turned out and already have two materials for two more!! And my sister is making three of her own :)

I started out with a plain old pizza pan (only $1 from the Dollar Tree!) and hammered two holes near the top for where the ribbon was going to go through. Then, I used paper to create a pattern for the size of the fabric that was going to cover the pan. Once I figured out the pattern, I pinned it to my fat quarter of fabric (on sale for $1.29 at Jo Ann's!) and cut the fabric to the right size. After that, I used Modge Podge (honestly the best thing ever invented) and glued the fabric to the cookie sheet! I got some ribbon and threaded it through the holes and there you go! A brand new magnet board!

I'm completely obsessed with how it turned out! It's going to be perfect for my dorm room when I move in in August! And it only cost around $2.50 to make this! Can you believe it?? I saw someone on Etsy selling these for $26!!! Haha, she sure is making a ton of money off of these things when they don't even cost $3 dollars to make! But you should seriously considering trying to make it yourself! It's cheap, fun, and completely adorable! I'll be are to share the other ones I make when I get around to it :)

To Do List: #59

#59: Have a Die Hard marathon (watch all four in one day)

That's right. Last week, me and my sister went over to our best friend's house at 10 am. Four movies, a package of Oreos, a bag of licorice, 9 hours, a pizza, and 3 subway subs later, I have completed number 59 on my to do list! Die Hard holds a special place in our hearts because our sophomore year of high school, when our best friend broke up with her boyfriend, my sister and I brought over a pack of Oreos and Die Hard to take her mind off of it. So who else could I do this challenge with than those two amazing girls?

During the movie, we all got caught up with each of our college lives, I crocheted yet another octopus, and I got ahead on some blogging stuff. It was such a nice way to spend my day! The only problem is that after the first two Die Hards, I really wanted it to be Christmas! Haha, but sadly there is still 6 more months to go until that wonderful holiday (I have to admit Die Hard is one of my favorite Christmas movies!). I had so much fun crossing another item off of my to do list and I can't wait to do even more of them with my two best friends :)

Craft Corner: DIY sweatshirt pocket

I saw this on Pinterest the other day and knew I had to make it! I finally had time to go to Walmart today and buy a sweatshirt for only $5! Then, I had some leftover fabric from a skirt I made and cut that into a pocket!

I measured the pocket of one of my mom's shirts to get an idea of what size I wanted to make the pocket. Then, I just folded the sides over until I had it to the size I wanted it and ironed down the corners. Once the corners were down, I pinned it to the sweatshirt and tried it on first to see how it looked. It took a couple of tries, but I finally got the pocket to the right position and sewed it on! And now I have a fantastic new sweatshirt that no one else has!! The best part? It's my school colors! So I can wear it at school and it will be perfect for football games and such. This was a super fast and easy (not to mention super cheap) way to turn an ordinary sweatshirt into an adorable new outfit! I'm definitely making some more of these :)

Happy [belated] Fourth of July!

Hey guys! I hope everyone had as awesome as an Independence Day as I had! Sadly, I had to work from 12-8, but that still left time for the usual Fourth of July festivities! Before I had to leave, my family had a cookout and enjoy a delicious lunch together! Then, I wore my red heart sunglasses to work that matched my red, white, and blue nails. When I got home from work, the rest of my family and I watched Independence Day (a fourth of July tradition) while I crocheted a red and blue octopus. I can't get enough of these octopuses, so I decided to make one to celebrate our country! Haha, so it was quite a nice holiday. Sadly, I didn't see any fireworks this year, but I did hear a ton while we were watching the movie! Glad to know some people were celebrating this holiday right! What did you all do? I hope your Fourth of July was as festive as mine :)

Sweet Summer Secret Swap

I was SO excited to be a part of Jacinta's Sweet Summer Secret Swap from My Beauty Boxes because not only to I love getting presents, but I love giving presents as well! And this swap allowed me to give a gift to a fellow blogger and receive a surprise as well! I sent a package over to Antonette over at Hello Sunshine Photography and I really hope she likes what I picked out for her! What I'm really excited to share with you, though, is the absolutely AMAZING gift I received from Kelly from The No Drama Mama

I opened the package up to find pink tissue paper, which I had mentioned was my favorite color, so I knew it was going to be amazing! Then I found this adorable card on top...

And realized it was the gift from the Sweet Summer Secret Swap and that Kelly had gotten me! And the package got even better!

First, and probably the thing I was most excited about, were the cat eye sunglasses! Kelly had put the pink rhinestones on herself and they are absolutely amazing! Seriously, I'm pretty sure I drooled when I pulled these out because I had recently posted about dying to own a pair of cat eye sunglasses. And now I do! And they have pink on them! They're perfect :)

Then there were pink sparkly hearts that are perfect for crafting whenever I feel a little inspired..which tends to be all the time! They're pink, sparkly, and pretty freaking adorable! So excited to be able to use these on future projects!

Next was a coloring book with a note on it that said "4 #47 on ur to-do list" which made me so happy! Number 47 is to complete an entire coloring book and I actually don't have one, so this is PERFECT for me! I can't wait to start coloring and cross another thing off of my to-do list :)

Last, but most certainly not least, is this gorgeous yarn! It is super soft and is pink and white and I love it! I have a slight obsession with yarn, so adding a new skein to my collection is always exciting for me! I'm excited to see what I can make out of this because it's so fun and exactly the kind of yarn I look for to make new projects out of!

So basically Kelly is amazing. No seriously, she could not have gotten me a more perfect gift. She took everything I mentioned I loved and even checked out my blog to decide what to get me and I couldn't be any happier! So I want to thank Kelly SO MUCH for being such an amazing gift-giver! I hope whoever got you made you as happy as you made me :) And now I'm off to do some coloring....in my new sunglasses :)

Craft Corner: Crochet Octopus

Isn't he a cutie? Haha, I was so excited when I saw this pattern on Ravelry because I just couldn't get over how cute the octopus was! It didn't look too hard, so I decided to try it out for myself. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn that I had left over form earlier projects and I had plenty to make this little guy. Here's some picture of him and a pink one I made today!

They are so freaking adorable that I just can't get over it. I'm definitely making more of these, probably for back-to-school gifts for my Miami friends! Wouldn't they be cute little gifts? I may even sell them for a fundraiser for my knitting club at school. Ahh, the endless possibilities these little guys open up for me :) They'll definitely keep me company during those late nights of homework when school starts! Which is only a month away! I can't believe summer is almost over. I have to work fast on making more! Once I do, I'll be sure to share with you guys!

Do any of you have fun little animal patterns for crocheting? I'd love a new project to start, so please share!!
