Friday's Favorites

Happy Friday! Oh my goodness, what a week. It was a super busy one for me and let's just say I'm happy for a break! I'm heading up to Toledo on Saturday for a Quidditch tournament, so that should be a lot of fun. I know it's going to be freezing, so hopefully I can try and find ways to stay warm. And I can't believe January is over! We're getting closer and closer to spring :)

1) Hehe, I love this Tea shirt

2) These heart nails would be so perfect for Valentine's Day.

3) I love this heart backed dress. It makes me wish for the warm weather!

4) Aahhhhh moustache cupcakes! I want, I want!

5) Haha, this quote should definitely be my motto. Especially considering how much I love cereal :)

6) This phone case is so cute! And I love the pink color.

7) Haha, this kitty picture is literally the story of my life.

8) I am obsessed with this bicycle bracelet. The hearts inside of the wheels are just the perfect touch.

9) Omg, these moustache nails are just too perfect for me. I want to make them so bad!

10) I am so in love with this white coat. It looks like it would be so cozy in these freezing temperatures.

Tumblr is my BFF

So a couple of weeks ago I got a tumblr and I am literally OBSESSED with it. How did I not know about the awesomeness of tumblr sooner? I called my page Busy Nothings after the quote from Jane Austen's Mansfield Park- "Life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings." I am in love with my title because Jane Austen is so inspiring and I think my pictures reflect her and her books. All I basically do is reblog pretty pictures of books, notebooks, coffee, tea, sweaters, and other vintage looking images. I could literally spend all day on tumblr finding new and wonderful blogs to follow.

I got my template from some website for free. All I did was google "free tumblr templates" and went through millions until I found this one. I love the simpleness of the title and how the pictures are all organized in four columns. The best part, though, has to be the infinite scroll. I tried out a couple of other templates but they all stopped scrolling after like 25 pictures and you had to click the next button. That really bothered me, so I'm really happy I was able to find a template that just let you show as many pictures as you want. Because I reblog a ton of pictures.

Do any of you guys have a tumblr? I'd love to follow so that I can get more inspiration from mine! And what other tumblrs do you follow? I've found some that I'm completely obsessed over, which is probably what's feeding my addiction in the first place. Who knew pictures could be so addicting?

Wardrobe Wishlist: Red Hearts

With Valentine's Day slowly approaching, I have been obsessed with anything and everything heart patterned. So when I saw the heart dress on Modcloth, I feel absolutely in love. Since the dress is black and white, I thought adding a little red with the tights and yellow with the bag gave this dress the pop it needs. With the dreary weather that's been going on lately (it's rained the last two days), I really want an outfit that can brighten up my day.

Life has been busy as usual, but that's the way I like things! And my very first book club meeting is tomorrow and I'm so nervous! I have no idea how many people are going to come, but I hope it's a decent amount. Speaking of books, did you know yesterday was the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen? I posted a commemorative status on Facebook, but I wish I had planned some literary party! Wouldn't have that been fun? Oh well, maybe next year!

I hope you guys have had a great start to your week! We're already almost halfway to Friday!

Craft Corner: Brioche Infinity Scarf

I've been working on this scarf all week and I'm beyond excited that it's finally finished. It's called the Brioche Infinity Scarf, so you use the Brioche Stitch. I was a little confused on how exactly to do that stitch, but trusty old Youtube helped me get started and from then on I was home free. The stitch looks a little like a seed stitch, but it's thicker and I love it.

When JoAnns was having their 25% off yarn sale, I went a little crazy on the yarn. I picked up this super cute grey speckled Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn and could not wait to find something to make out of it. The yarn ended up being super cozy and in this thick cowl, it's absolutely perfect.

I used a provisional cast-on and then a kitchener stitch to bind the ends together since you use two regular needles to make this. The binding ended up not being completely seamless because of the brioche stitch pattern, but it's definitely not as bulky as it would have been if I had sewn the ends together. So overall, I'm in love with this new cowl!

This weekend is pretty chilly, so I'll be snuggled up with my cowl and new glasses that I still haven't stopped obsessing over. Then it's back to class on Monday for me! I hope guys have been enjoying your weekends as well. Have you guys done anything fun?

King Kong and Squirrel Mugs

Do you know what day it is? That's right, it's Saturday! Which means that I have the day to get a lot of stuff done that I've been wanting to do all week. Who knew classes and homework could take up so much time? Here's what I hope to get done today...

1. Since it's been freezing lately, my little ears get so cold on the way to classes. Hopefully I can find a cute pattern to make a headband to keep them warm. I already tried a cabled headband and really didn't like how it turned out, so it's time for take two.

2. Hopefully, the first meeting for my Jane Austen Book Club will take place this week! I have to make up some flyers and spread the word so that people will come to the information session on Wednesday. I can't wait to start reading Jane's books and discussing them with fellow Austen lovers.

3. I got the original King Kong from the library and I'm super excited to watch it. I really enjoyed the new version with Jack Black and Naomi Watts, so I'm really intrigued to see how this one turns out.

4. I'm definitely going to get some use out of this squirrel mug my sister got me for Christmas. Nothing sounds better than a delicious warm cup of tea in this frigid weather.

5. I am OBSESSED with my new glasses. I seriously never want to wear my contacts again. haha, which will be kind of difficult to run...so maybe I'll just wear my glasses more often than I do now :) And I've been writing in my writer's notebook more and more. Who knew writing down everything you see in the world could be so much fun?

So that's what I'll be doing today! Then, I get to go to Columbus on Sunday and spend the day with my parents, which I am absolutely ecstatic about. Hope you guys have great weekends as well :)

My New (And Fabulous) Firmoo Glasses!

I was absolutely over the moon excited when Firmoo contacted me asking if I would like to receive a pair of their glasses to review. I normally wear contacts, but I've been dying to get a new pair of glasses to wear every now and then. Firmoo is an online glasses store and they are absolutely amazing! I decided to look for a pair of glasses I liked and instantly fell in love with these. Looking back now, I can't find the exact same pair I ordered from their website, but they are almost exactly like these glasses which I'm super tempted to get in black because they're so adorable. But anyways, I filled out my prescription information and they shipped out my glasses right away. And I am completely in love with them!

Haha, as you can tell I'm super excited with how they turned out! The prescription is absolutely perfect and I love how they look. I was really nervous about ordering online because I wasn't sure how they would fit since I always had the people at the eye doctor fit them for me. But they fit perfectly! Seriously, it's like they were made for me :)

The coolest part about Firmoo, though, has got to be their First Pair Free Program. That's right! You're first pair of glasses that you order from their website are absolutely free, all you have to do is pay for shipping! So if you're as in love with these glasses as I am, head on over to Firmoo's Website and order your first pair of awesome glasses for free!

When you go and look around their website for your perfect pair of glasses, you can even upload a photo of you and it will show you how the glasses will look on you. This was SO helpful when I was deciding what glasses to choose. And they ended up looking exactly how I thought they would!

I would definitely recommend Firmoo to anyone who loves glasses. They are pretty fast at shipping out the glasses and even include a case and lens cloth. So what are you waiting for? Order your first free pair of glasses right now!

Friday's Favorites

Wow, I feel like it was just the weekend and here it is again! Yay! I've definitely got a fun time ahead of me; no classes tomorrow and I get to spend Sunday with my parents! I haven't seen them in two weeks, so it'll be great to catch up. Hopefully I can get some reading done too because I have some fantastic books just sitting on my shelf, begging to be read. Maybe I'll even break open one of the classics I've been dying to read. We'll see!

1. I am absolutely in love with this shirt. The lace with the turquoise trim is just so cute! And I love how she paired it with a yellow skirt.

2. I want, I want, I want! How cute is this book spine iPhone case? This is perfect for me!

3. Tehe, I couldn't help but smile when I saw these tubes of kitty lip stick

4. Oh my goodness, I wish I could have cupcake nails like these!

5. I love this inspirational picture. It would be so cute hanging on the wall in my room.

6. These pastel Essie polishes are so absolutely perfect. I would love to add them to my nail polish collection!

7. Once I saw these daisy Vans I fell in love! They're perfect for spring.

8. Haha, isn't this tape dispenser so punny?

9. Mmmmm, Dum Dums will forever be my favorite candy. Cream Soda is definitely the best :)

10. How awesome is this Breakfast Club cross stitch? Once I learn how to cross stitch (which I will someday, I swear), I'd love to make one of these for myself.

10 Classics I Should Really Read....Like Now

I love books. That's really no secret. But a secret that I do have is this: My background in the classics is seriously lacking. Now, some of you probably don't care. So what that I haven't read the classics? Well, I care. Because I'm dedicating my life to teaching literature to high school students and I should probably know what I'm going to be teaching them. There are so many times when I'm like, "Oh yeah, I really should read that one soon!" but that never happens. So I've decided I'm going to read more classics this year and I thought I'd share with you guys the top 10 I'm determined to get through in 2013.

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. Dracula by Bram Stoker
3. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
4. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
6. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
7. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
8. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
9. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
10. Emma by Jane Austen

The thing I love most about these classics, though, have got to be the covers. There are so many out there and I want them all! I already own THREE copies of Wuthering Heights because I love the different editions and just had to have them. Not to mention it's my favorite classic, so I don't mind owning multiple copies ;)

I'm really excited to complete my goal and read these ten classics this year. I'm hoping that once I read pretty much all of them, I can watch their movies right after! I've already seen the Kiera Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice and fell in love, so that's probably the book I'm most excited to get to this year.

Are you guys a fan of the classics? Which one do you think I should read first?

Wardrobe Wishlist: Pastel Passion

No matter what time of the year it is, I am absolutely in love with pastel colors. I was looking through Modcloth and decided to put together a little outfit with my favorite color palette. I love how the mint, pink, and purple all go together!. And what's an outfit without a pair of sparkly oxfords? I just wish I had this outfit so much! I'd probably end up wanting to wear it every other day because I love it so much.

It was back to classes for me today and I had the first knitting meeting of the semester. It was fun to be able to knit and gossip with the girls again. Who knew I'd miss it so much over winter break? I'm working on this fantastic cowl right now and I can't wait for the finished product. I definitely need it with these freezing temperatures. I hope you all are staying warm and are having a great start to your weeks :)

Chevron Nails and French Cinema

Hello everyone! This weekend seemed so long in the beginning but now I can't believe it's actually over. It's back to classes and reality for me tomorrow. But over my four days off, I have been able to do some pretty great things! I'd say it was definitely a very productive weekend.

1. I started to write in my writer's notebook and I absolutely love it! Who knew writing down anything and everything in a little notebook could be so much fun? I'm always looking forward to finding new things in life to record in my notebook.

2. Snow has started falling again in Oxford! But that means that it's insanely cold as well. As long as I have the gorgeous white snowflakes to look at on my way to class, I don't mind bundling up as much.

3. I started a new knitting project! I'm completely in love with the color I'm using now, so I can't wait to see the finished product.

4. I tried out a chevron pattern on my nails with light pink polish and mint polish. While they're far from perfect, I'm really happy with how my perfect attempt turned out.

5. My chevron afghan has been making slow and steady progress. I got a couple of more rows done this weekend before I picked up my new project as a break.

6. I started a French Cinema class and it is so cool. We're learning about the very first films and French life in the late 1800s/early 1900s. I love finding new folders and notebooks for my classes, so of course I had to make a cover page for my notebook for my Cinema class.

As much as I loved my break, I'm excited to get back into the swing of school and going to my classes everyday. How was your weekend?

My Writer's Notebook and Marie Antoinette

Hello everyone! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend and this beautiful weather! I can't believe it's 50 degrees out today. Yes, it's supposed to go back down to 30 tomorrow, so we have to enjoy it while we can! I have a ton of things I want to get done this weekend, so I hope this weekend is a successful one.

1. I'm taking an honors class called Writing With Voice and I have the most amazing teacher in the world. For the class, he wants us to have a writer's notebook where we write down anything and everything on 5-10 pages a week. I'm so excited to start writing down little snippets of the world I see.

2. For my Voice class, we had to read Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott, which is a book about writing. I was so in love with the book that I finished it in one day. Now, I have this huge itch to just sit down and write something.

3. More and more work crocheting my chevron afghan. I swear it's never ending.

4. I stopped by the library today and picked up some movies to watch, including Marie Antoinette. This one looks so good and I can't wait to watch it this weekend.

5. I got this super pretty speckled gray yarn over break and I'm hoping I can find something cute to make this weekend out of it. Time to dedicate a couple of hours to ravelry so that I can find the perfect pattern.

And that's what I'll be up to this weekend! I hope you guys enjoy your Saturday as well :)

January is already looking like a fantastic month! I'm back at school taking some really fun classes and it's supposed to snow this week! Snow would make this cold so much more bearable :) Seriously, though, 2013 has been off to a fantastic start and I'm excited to see how this month is going to finish up. Hopefully my Jane Austen Book Club at school will be up and running. My knitting club is starting our meetings back up this week too, so that's going to be a lot of fun as well. Oh, and not to mention we have Monday off, so it's an extra long weekend. I already set up my sponsorship program, so I'd say it's been a pretty productive start to my weekend :)

So don't forget to check out my sponsor page if you're interested. And thank you so much for being such amazing followers! I don't know what I would do without you guys :)

Friday's Favorites

I survived my first week of classes! Haha, and the homework isn't that bad yet, so I have to enjoy my freedom while it lasts. I'm probably going to visit the library today and see if I can pick up some movies and books to pass the time over this holiday weekend (we get Monday off). I'm so excited to relax after getting back into the swing of school. I hope you all have a great, relaxing weekend as well!

1) I am OBSESSED with this photo wall over at Elsie's blog. I would love to do that to my own house someday!

2) Doesn't this unicorn ring just look magical?

3) This closet-turned-booknook is so fun. I'll have to keep that in mind when I have my own library one day :)

4) Just by using two cake pans, you get the perfect heart cake. Maybe I'll make one of these for Valentine's Day!

5) These yarn covered stools look so cozy! I'm pretty sure it's crocheted, so they shouldn't even be that hard to make!

6) How awesome would it be to have crayon rings? Haha, I would never get any work done.

7) This camera cake is one of the coolest cakes I've ever seen. And it looks like it's red velvet, which is my favorite :)

8) Awww this whale bracelet is just too cute!

9) Tehe, this Ross moment pretty much sums up my life.

10) What every girl should believe <3
